I love to keep my knives sharp at all times. I use several "systems" but have never used a whetstone until buying this one. The dual side means that I can use both the medium and fine on the spot without changing to a new stone. The ceramic means I don't need oil or water to sharpen the knife. I found the stone to be very quick at honing a nice edge. About the only complaint is that I wish t were longer in length and perhaps some sort of "base" to hole while in use.

a great stone, it made my knife incredibly sharp. this stone is for finishing a knife that isn't extremely dull. but if your blade doesn't catch your finger like it used too this will put that razor edge back on it. I have used this without water and it works fine.

If your expectation of a stone is a perfect mirror polish, move along. This stone is very effective at restoring an edge with MINOR nicks and blemishes, right back to genuine hair shaving sharp. It's a great maintenance tool, bringing a rolled edge back into shape, or a quick tune-up for the favorite EDC.

Horrors of neglect and abuse are well beyond what this stone can fix. Save those cases for the belt sander.

This is all you would need more most field sharpening situations unless you severely damage your edge then you can use the diamond coated stone DC3

This it fantastic. It gives a much finer edge than I expected end the black side cuts really well. The white die looks like it's getting full of metal really fast, but it doesn't seem to affect it at all and you can wash it. If they made a larger bench version of this I'd totally buy one too. I already had a coarser diamond field stone of similar grit to the diamond side of the dc4, so this with the finishing side was exactly what I needed for a razor edge anywhere.
