Had to reconfigure the hole in the cabinet which took a sabre saw and some glue. Performance is way way better than the polk amp. It is much tighter sounding with way more power and it blends in more seamlessly than it ever did before. It is in a 40'x40' shop with a 16' ceiling backing up 3 sets of classic Advent speakers (2 pairs on tuble amps , one pair on SS amp) and it sounds better than it ever has. If this amp, which weighs way more than the original amp, keeps working as it is now i will continue to be glad i went this route over purchasing a whole new sub.

I purchase this unit to replace a busted amp in a Polk audio psw650. All it needed to take this new amp was to widen the existing plate hole by about 3/4 top and bottom. Was able to plug it right in, silicone seal it up and it works great as advertised. Nice that it handles 8 or 4 ohm drivers the same.

The Dayton SPA250 is a nice powerful sub-amp with a good low end punch, not just for music, but movies, it delivers a clean low end without being to on your face sort of speak. You can feel the bass coming thru clean without any major volume increase to help it. The controls are simple, and the connectivity to either an existing subwoofer or a new one is pretty easy to do. However, if you are replacing your plate amp for this one, be ready to customize the existing open, as this amp is a bit larger on the back. But if you are savy and got the tools, is not a big deal. Anyway, great amp for the money!

I found an old downward-firing sealed box subwoofer on the side of the road by some trash cans and looked at it and the box was in fantastic shape so I figured I'd pick it up and see what was wrong with it.It turned out to be a Cambridge Soundworks Basscube10. Both the amp and the driver were blown so I figured I'd rebuild it. Bought new feet for it, this new 250 RMS plate amp, and based on the .94 /- CF sealed box size I paid up, way up, for a nice Morel Primo 104 driver. This plate amp fit perfectly into the existing cut-out and every single screw hole matched the stock amp it came with so it must be a higher powered clone that could fit many comparable boxes.Long story short, it wasn't a cheap rebuild but this refurbished DF sub rivals (and may even exceed) the performance my 2022 SVS SB1000. But I shouldn't be surprised as the rebuild cost about the same when complete than my SVS did new.Do understand that a 250 RMS amp is not going to shake your belongings off shelves if that is what you want. However, in the right housing, with the right driver, it blends seamlessly into a quality home system. I don't care to push it any harder than about 60 of capable gain in my application as that's all I want - Just enough teamed up with my SVS without becoming offensive. In this application it blends in perfectly located in a different area of my room as a downward firing addition to my SVS forward firing on my front sound stage.I can't talk about longevity yet as it has only been running a few weeks but I also don't push a plate amp to it's limits all the time. People who say the heat sink on this gets so hot you can't touch it are driving it way, way too hard and it will probably fail in no time. If you want to do that buy a more expensive 500 RMS rated amp and run it at 50 gain... it will stay much cooler and last much longer.

I have been been using the same product since purchase back in 2014 at a price of $109.00 however, the unit stopped working sometime withihg the last year. The amplifier is the same as the one purchased in 2014 and hope it last longer that the last.

More power than the failed original and it dropped right in place.

I purchased this subwoofer amp because it doesn't have a mandatory auto on feature. My main speakers (Lowthers) are so sensitive ( 105 db at one meter roughly) that volume needs to be uncomfortably high to trigger a sub with auto on. This amp is fine other than it still doesn't have enough gain to match the Lowthers. Dayton Audio is a fine source. As an audio obsessive, I have used their products for years.

Since replacing my old sub's amplifier with this Dayton spa250 amp. the bass from my sub is now flat and tactile, down into the infrasonic region. The difference that this amp. made was "ear-opening". I had already upgraded the driver in my sub with a 10 inch Dayton long throw woofer. I sealed up my subwoofer cabinet making it an acoustic suspension subwoofer. Acoustic suspension subs provide much tighter bass than bass-reflex or passive-radiator designs. Acoustic suspension subs do require more power and this amp is able to deliver all the power anyone would want For a 10 inch woofer.

This works great. I'm using it with a Kenwood Road Series 12, 4 ohm subwoofer inside of an Athena AS-P6000 that had both the amp and sub fail. The AS-P6000 enclosure is really big but this amp will not go in where the old amp was because it is also really big. The enclosure has two port tubes running inside and the cover of the amp would mean cutting not only the enclosure more but also the ports. I had to cut and mount it on the side.Over all if I had to do it again I think I would. The over all cost was still less than a new sub even if it is ugly but it gave me something to do and makes for a conversation piece.
