Easy IR Extender HDMI Adapter
The Easy IR Extender system from Parts Express makes distributed IR systems hassle-free by taking advantage of existing HDMI cables, and even distributed HDMI environments (with IR-capable HDMI matrices, splitters, and selectors), using the power and the wiring within the HDMI cable to operate.
Each Easy IR Extender HDMI adapter works with either an Easy IR target or emitter to insert or extract an Easy IR from a HDMI cable. Its low profile lets the adapter be easily installed between an HDMI cable and a TV or source.
In normal IR extender mode, an IR target is positioned at each TV location and an IR emitter is positioned at the head-end to control source the devices. With the unique reverse IR extender mode, an IR target is positioned at the head-end and an IR emitter at each TV location to provide remote control of the TVs.
Please note: A switch in the adapter allows you to dedicate the adapter for IR use or allows the adapter to pass HDMI CEC signals. CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is part of the HDMI specification that allows CEC enabled devices to control each other. For example when you turn on a CEC enabled Bluray player an AV receiver and TV in the system will turn on and set to the correct inputs. At this time CEC is not widely implemented and is not commonly compatible between manufacturers. For this reason, we recommend setting the CEC/IR switch to IR; refer to your device user manual for more on CEC.
