This is a nice little shelf if you need a bit of extra storage space. First off, this is definitely a "discount" furniture item. It looks nice & isn't something you'll want to hide, but it is relatively cheaply made. Of course, for under $200 it is exactly what I was expecting, so just be aware of what quality you should expect before buying. If you want nice solid wood that will last, go to a furniture store & be prepared to spend $1000 or more. This is much more along the lines of a cheaper IKEA flat-pack item which will last if you don't abuse it, but is by no means a solid piece of furniture.Assembly was a bit of a hassle (as others have noted), especially the back pieces. I attempted to do this as a 1-man job and was ultimately successful, but having a second person around to hold things stable while you screw all the pieces together is definitely recommended. Other than those back pieces, most of the parts went together easily & it hasn't shown any signs of instability. The wicker baskets look nice, but I didn't find them very useful when used with the shelf. Using them cuts down on the total storage space available on the shelves (except for the large one shown on the bottom in the picture, which we still use), and they are kind of scratchy which could leave marks in the wood & scratch off the finish. They do, however, make excellent storage bins, so they now sit in a closet to hold things that were previously scattered on the floor.Lastly, this has the benefit of being part of a cheap collection, so if you do like it & you want to match new furniture purchases to it, there are several other items that would complement it (most of them linked from the product page).
