The plastic mount that the original lamp came with is cheap and will crack. This is the only thing that will last. Save yourself some frustration. Booyeah!

It fits my swing arm lamp a lot better than the clamp that comes with the lamp. If you are looking for a clamp to use with the swing arm lamp this is the one to buy. It fits perfect. It will hold in place and last a lot longer than the plastic one.

exactly what I expected for a great price. I had purchased a swing arm lamp that came with the a plastic clamp which broke immediately upon using, I had to order this piece, which is made of cast metal. I would recommend this for the price.

I had a swing-arm lamp that I rehabilitated with this clamp when the original plastic camp cracked (and I put up with it for years - why?). It's great, works perfect.

My previous clamp was plastic and not very heavy duty. It served well for years but then just got brittle and broke. Instead of replacing the entire lamp I was able to just purchase this new clamp. It is metal and sturdy and attaches perfectly to my art table. Would definitely recommend

I purchased this after I read the reviews on a lamp I bought and it said in the reviews it had a metal clamp. You have to read reviews carefully and check different sites that offer the same item to make sure you get a full description sometimes. It works wonders and you could go very thick on what you attach to it, at least 2 3/4 inches just to say safely. I have a 1 7/8 desk and have plenty of left over room. It has a felt piece on the top desk side mount to stop from scratching. You can really crank this tight if you need to. I am a big guy and it didn't give in no matter how much I turned it.Just to make it clear for other buyers it just has a hole that the light slips into with a set screw. So make sure your light has a post type mount piece that is compatible. I didn't us the set screw because I am using an architect style light and move it around as I work.

This replaces the plastic one that is included with the Swing Arm Lamp from Studio Designs. You will want to add this. I think it is also compatible with other offerings from that manufacturer. I think there is a list with compatible PNs here somewhere.

Imagine working on a piece of art and your second plastic clamp breaks, the light falls and scatters your work.I saw this, it's metal and ordered. It arrived the next day! It is sturdy, fit my lamp, and I am back to work.Great product!
