Single Gang 2-Hour Fire Rating Includes 1 Piece
Arlington's non-conductive box extenders extend set back metal or non-metallic electrical boxes up to 1-1/2 inches the easy way! They work for any single gang device and most steel and non-metallic outlet boxes - providing a level, fully supported wiring device that's flush with the wall surface. In steel boxes they prevent arcing and shorting by creating a barrier between the box and device screws.
The BE1X, has a slightly larger flange that covers mis-cut wall material and accommodates midi or maxi cover plates.

Tiled the wall, and left the existing plastic boxes. This allowing me to install the devices correctly without moving the original boxes.

If your home has an electrical outlet box that is recessed behind the drywall you will notice that the outlet does not come up the outlet cover. When you plug something in, there may be movement in the outlet itself. This can create a fire hazard. This repair box will bring the recessed outlet forward and surround it so it does not contact any material in the wall. You may require longer 6 machine screws and adjustable 1/8 inch spacers to complete the job. There are simpler sheet metal pieces that also can bring the outlet forward but does not solve the problem of interior wall material contacting an outlet recessed more that 1/4 behind the drywall. FOR SAFETY, BEFORE STARTING TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE OUTLET AT THE BREAKER BOX. TEST BOTH OUTLETS FOR ANY POWER FLOWING TO IT. ONLY ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCED WITH ELECTRICAL WORK AND HAVE THE PROPER TOOLS. A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN IS ALWAYS BETTER THAT A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL. Watch the You Tube video from a licensed electrician showing the various solutions to this problem. The pictures show the post repair. It was not necessary to remove any of the wires to do this.

Other similar products just would not work; I made up a bunch of new bad words due to fits being too tight and preventing closure. Found this one and BINGO! It just worked. Doesn't seem like this should be a problem with any of them but it was and this brand/model made it easy.
