Quality is passable. The canvas is not nearly as heavy as they'd have you think, Not even close to it's WW2 counterpart.

I commute on bicycle, a great bag to use for stuff you don't want to leave with your bike.

I bought this bag because it was cheap, and I planned to overhaul it anyway. The metal caps fell off the cinch straps right away. I put them back on and pinged them in place with a nail punch. If they come off again, I'll roll the ends over and stitch them in place. The shoulder straps were too short for anyone but a child. But, I wanted a haversack for my prospecting tools, so I took a strap from a worn out military bag, reinforced and stitched the ends to either side. Overall, the canvas is heavy enough and the design works well for me. I'm considering buying another.

For the price, it is a nice little canvas daypack: My intended use is as a costume accessory in conventions-I have one of a similar make and it is perfect for con use-carrying a light jacket, extra batteries for a camera, a water bottle or two, and other things. Now for the military buffs: this is a replica of the US WW2 Bag, Canvas, Field, M1936 Musette bag. In other reviews of it, people have stated that linking the straps together to make into a slingable bag isn't the most comfortable-witch is true, because the is actually another strap ( an General purpose strap) that would be used to make it into a shoulder bag.Overall, not bad at all, good accessory for costume use-I can't give it 5 stars because I haven't use this one yet

I had one of these as a kid. That bag saw a lot of travel, across about 45 US States, and a bit of Canada....someone stole it from me when I was in college.I finally got around to replacing the bag. This one looks and feels like the original GI bag that my dad gave me when I was about three years old.I have not yet taken this on the trail, but I have loaded it up with trail things (...to your imagination there) to test the capabilities, and so far it seems that this guy will carry enough hiking gear for a nice long Day Of It in the woods. If this bag breaks horribly on the trail, I'll amend this review, but I doubt that will be necessary.I recommend this bag.

Seems more a sturdy but small child's backpack than something I would take rockhounding. Straps are too short to make this function like a messenger bag, and is significantly smaller than my regular backpack. I was hoping to add supplemental carrying space with a messenger style bag, this will not cut it.
