I've just found a discrepancy between the 2 of these I own (for use on a whiteboard, where they consistently reside with no warping or stretching). Laying the cm/mm edges together, one ruler's 30cm is the other ruler's 29.4cm. Likewise, 1234; on one looks like 11.7534; on the other. For a product that professes to serve a measurement function, 2 is a pretty big difference! Neither of these is accurate; a professional rigid ruler puts the truth between these two, although one is a bit less inaccurate. If it's the second one I bought, Westcott may be improving on quality control, but I have no way of knowing which is the earlier purchase. This kind of thin yellow magnet may still be helpful for marking out regularities (marking a dot every lets-call-it-two-inches, for example).

I have rather poor spatial relations skills and one problem I have is that when a recipe says 34;cut in 2-inch slices34; I don't have a good mind picture of what that looks like. I suddenly thought one day, 34;What if I had a magnetic ruler on the fridge? I wonder if there is such a thing?34; And lo, there is, and I bought it. I'm very happy with this new tool and keep finding new uses -- such as measuring baking pans that don't have the measurements on the bottom. The one quibble is that the magnet is very strong and it's a little difficult to get off the refrigerator. But I'm not downgrading it for that because I'm a nailbiter and that's my own fault.

Works great with my magnetic whiteboard for holding knitting patterns. It helps me keep track of which chart row I'm on.
