To dry, prop up off of counter to allow all surfaces to air dry evenly. Wood products should never be washed in the dishwasher.After drying, rejuvenate and protect the wood by rubbing it down with Ironwood Butcher Block Oil. Apply the oil liberally and allow it to soak in thoroughly before use. Regular application of our Butcher Block Oil will prevent cracking and preserve the rich natural colors of the wood.

I like this salt cellar. Don't love it, though. The wood is gorgeous, really very nice with great contrast in the markings. But the attachment of the lid to the box is not great. It's a simple brass Phillips screw, doesn't feel terribly secure, and doesn't hold the lid firmly to the rim of the box. The box is functional -- I have my flake sea salt in it right now -- but it could be a lot better with some minor design "tweaks." I'm still giving this 4 stars because I do like it and I'll continue to use it. But the construction is a bit more "rustic" than some might appreciate.

This is a cool place to keep sea salt handy for cooking. It opens easily and looks good on the countertop. They recommend oiling it, like you would a cutting board so I did. The design is super simple and it works fine.

Yes, it is a beautiful Acacia and yes, it is functional (and useful around the house)...<br />But I can't get over the fact that the lid is connected with just a normal brass wood screw - so flimsy, doesn't close properly, and feels cheaply made inspite of the beautiful wood. A better lid mechanism would have earned this 4.5 to 5 star rating.<br />Also I am not sure if the wood is coated properly (feels as if no coat to the touch). A good waterproof/weatherproof coating might also help, particularly for the interior of the cellar.

I like it...it's beautiful and well made. It is for salt but of course it can also come in handy for any other season mix! This will be in my kitchen for a very long time.

This is a lovely salt container for your kitchen. The wood is beautiful and nicely stained and finished. It looks high end. I am slightly concerned that the wood-on-wood rubbing (from opening, closing the lid) could erode the finish over time, but so far, its great. Also, realize that this is not a bowl-like container, but a cylinder with right edges along the bottom - it could be hard to completely remove all salt if you ever wanted to. That's not really an issue to us, just realize. But that notwithstanding, a beautiful item with good functionality for the kitchen.
