I've been wanting these boots for years! I'm a true size 7 and ordered that. It fits like a glove! Like it was made with my foot as the mold. Also, it arrived a week early. I ordered and received it within 2 days! I was actually waiting for a different pair of shoes so when I opened these up, I had to check my orders to make sure I did order the other ones too. Also, out of the box they do have a little bit of a chemical smell, however if you consider the material used, it's normal. They should air out in a day or two.On to the shoes themselves. There is no zipper which is hard to find a modern Victorian boot without a zipper. A for that. The laces are a great quality cord. Not sure if it will come undone or not. I don't think it will. The metal is gold! Not silver as it appears on the photos for me. I would have liked silver much better and may not have ordered these if I realized they were gold. However, I've got some silver paint if it bothers me that much. The lace part is a stiff plastic type material. You will need to wear at least tall enough sheer socks or pantyhose to prevent that part rubbing your skin raw. You can see through the lace but it is very dark. Less see-through than I thought from the photos. This doesn't bother me one bit as I didn't want toouch of my skin to shoe through. In one of the photos you can see some strange fraying going on, on either side of the tongue. I'm not super concerned with this either as it seems that the seam around the edge of the tongue is tight and well sewn. The shape of the boots are amazing! Low curvy heel, (modern) pointed toe, and the shaft of the boot feels like the perfect length. The laces allow you to custom fit the width of where the laces are. I was able to tighten up the top of my foot area and leave my right ankle a little looser than the left and tighten up the rest of the way. You will have to figure out what is too tight. If you do lace too tightly, your feet will start to tingle and go numb. There really is no arch support, but the way the boot was molded does provide some support. I have very high arches so I do notice wanting just a little bit more. That's easy to fix though. The toe box is a little tight for me but my toes are a little on the long side so it should be a problem for most people.
