4 stars because of the lack of instructions although it is self explanatory. The product seems sturdy enough to hold a few suits or other heavy clothes. I will be using this product daily and would highly recommend it for an addition to your closet.

Be aware that this valet rod seems extremely cheaply made. The picture does not show you the mounting surface side of this. What you get is an open U shaped channel with mounting flange on either side. Not a tube piece that the rod slides in and out of. It is like they took a flat piece of metal and just stamped a cupped U shape down the center. The rod itself slides in and out of a plastic sleeve that just slots into the cupped U shaped and is held in place actually by your mounting it to the cabinet side. Otherwise it just falls out. As the rod comes it only extends out maybe 5 or 6 inches (sorry did not measure as I immediately returned it). You can slot the plastic sleeve into the U shape metal at different points to get more extension ability before you mount it, but you are going to have to find a way to cut off the plastic sleeve that will then be sticking out into your closet or it will 1. show and 2. be permanently extended by the amount of plastic sleeve you extended out.<br />The back of this rod has a small plastic band around it. That is all that is guiding and holding the back of the rod as it slides in and out. With much use I could see this either breaking and your rod coming all the way out or starting to slop around in the channel and wear your cabinet side.<br />Seems from other reviews many are having good luck out of this valet rod, but I just don't see it. Seems a really flimsy, cheap, cheap cheaply made valet rod. For very little money extra you can get a MUCH better valet rod system. My suggestion would be to go that route.

Perfect to use with my Ikea Pax unit. The mount holes do not line up with the Pax unit. Had to align the back holes then drill new holes into Pax to mount. Tried to first align the front holes, but the mount plate protruded past the front edge of my Pax unit. This is made a strong steel, the very feel of it is sturdy. I bought another valet pole brand to compare and it fell apart as I took it out of the box! The Rev a Shelf is made well and seems durable.
