The parallel aspect works fine, it stays accurate, but, and its a big BUT, if one needs to slide the guide in any direction other that where the guide wheels roll, they leave black skid marks on the drawing paper. This is not good. Technical and artistic drawing needs to be clean, these black smudges are a big negative for this tool. Likely the problem is the actual rubber composition of the parallel wheels.

This parallel glider is a necessity in any artists' tool box, especially if you work a lot with parallel lines. it glides very smooth and it stays within parallel the whole time. i use this to draw boxes or anything with parallel lines. depending on what type of ink pen you use, it might smear on your work. as long as you are gliding away from the line you just drew you should be fine.

I wish there was a little more weight on the metal half that slides because every now and then it will start curving. The little rubber pieces on the slide also occasionally leave black streaks on my paper which are erasable but undesirable.

Metal portion of this tool is very solid, and surprisingly heavy. It tracks well and rolls smoothly. The plastic is obviously more susceptible to damage, so best protect it well. Made in Poland, not Asia. Would definitely buy again.
