Stansport 713-84-B Scout 2 Person Nylon Tent - Forest Green

Its a classic that WORKS... IF you know what the heck you are doing with it. Yeah its a little tight for 1 man plus his gear and you for sure won't be fitting two grown men in it without really getting to know each other, if you know what I mean. Its a breeze to set up and it ventilates well with both mesh windows open. Will keep you dry from the morning dew and very light misting rain, but to protect against the heavy rain storms that will absolutely soak one of these (as some less than knowledgeable reviewers have pointed out), pitch a tarp shelter and then pitch the tent under it. Keeps off the moderate to heavy rain and, as an added bonus, the hot mid-day sun if you are camping in the heat of summer. I have stayed in one of these tents for a full week at a time on numerous occasions at different summer camps. You simply can't beat it if you have the know how and common sense to use it to your advantage. A tent is a camping TOOL that requires "know how" to use. You wouldn't walk into a wood shop and starting cutting away on a band saw or a lathe without knowing what you are doing right? Same principal. Learn to use this camping tool correctly and you will never have a second thought to buy a different single man tent. Five starts all around.

This tent rolls up and is pretty lightweight and compact but once up has plenty of room inside for one + gear. I'm 6'4 tall and if I were to stretch out my head and feet could touch the two end poles. Hit those poles to hard and I'd image it'd come down on you in the middle of the night. Overall I'm very pleased though. For less than $30 bucks I think it did an excellent job.I'd agree with a lot of the other reviews though and will have to only rate it for 4 stars. We were camping in some pretty warm weather (80's) so I can't vouch for its waterproofness either. But if it got cold outside say down into the 40's condensation would be a real concern. Even with the door flaps and back window flap open I could feel the temperature raising once I climbed in. This tent simply doesn't breath very well. Waking up in a puddle of water from condensation isn't fun. But just to be clear, that didn't happen and there was no buildup in the tent at all. If the tent were to breath better I'd give it a 5 star rating for sure.

This is an excellent tent to place in your pack. It is too low to fit a cot in though.

great for overnighter and easy tent to anchor a tarp over in extreme rain. totally a smart buy. and its easier to set up then a 200 dollar tent about the same size. and with a 12 dollar tarp it seems way more weather proof. I own a lot of tents. its funny how some tent style created long ago is still the best style. and its the one that cost the least. buy it! drape a tarp over correctly and make one more pole for the front of tarp and have a great dry porch.

I like this but it could use a few improvements. I love the durable flame retardant fabric, but lets hope it never gets tested. I like how the bottom is a light tarp like material that bowls upward to shed water underneath instead of pooling against the tent. I also love the 'A' frame. I've always wanted an 'A' frame house but since I'm poor a tent will have to do. :]With this you are getting exactly what you pay for. It's easy to set up once you get the hang of it and set your lines for future setting up. But there is hardly any ventilation. Because it's such a cheap tent I can make a few adjustments, sew in a few more mesh windows to make it the perfect backpacking tent. I set it up in the backyard in the heat of of the day in Central Texas. It's hot outside and it was even hotter inside the tent once I get it set up so more ventilation is a MUST! It says it's a two person but it's the perfect size for one person and their backpacking gear while on the trail. Fitting two people in the tent would be a tight fit with little wriggle room, leaving no room for gear if you need to bring it in. I am a 5'2 female at around 120 and there is plenty of room for me and all my stuff. The total weight of the tent is not for lightweight backpacking but that too can be adjusted by using trekking poles instead of the heavy poles it comes with. I am even thinking of finding some of those snap together lightweight poles instead of using the cord lines to hold it up. We shall see.So in other words, if you buy this tent you are doing so as a starting point in making something that is more personalized. It does not come with a rain fly so if you want one you have to buy it separate or make your own. If you don't want to take the time and effort to make adjustments then I suggest spending a little more money to get something less DIY than this. I like working with my hands, so I am up for the challenge. I also got some waterproof\seam sealer to spray on when I am done because most reviews said there is a problem with condensation...which is due to very little ventilation.

What a bargin for such a neat little tent, its just the right size. Perfect if you're really into roughin' it out there!
