I wanted a tea infuser for making a single cup of tea. Most seem to be for making an entire pot of tea. The reviewer that rated this one star must be using powered tea because the mesh it not coarse as he described, it is quite fine. The wire mesh sphere measures just a bit over 1-1/2", maybe 1-5/8". The metal frame around the mesh does measure about 2". This is a fairly small tea ball strainer, perfect for single cup brewing. I'd give it four and a half stars if that was an option.

I had another tea ball, but it allowed a lot of the leaves through for the kind of Thai tea I had. I purchased this one, and it was better, but since that kind of tea is a little powdery I still had to strain it to keep the resulting tea free of debris. It is easy to rinse out, and works fine.

I have had a few tea balls over the years. This one packs nicely, strains better ( not so much dregs), and cleans out easily.

I had already purchased a tea ball on line from one of the larger tea companies which cost me around $15.00. The tea ball I purchased from this company is just as well made for a fraction of the cost. Its diameter is about 1.5 inches which is perfect for a single cup of tea. All in all a great product.
