Product FAQ
*ARE TOVOLO PRODUCTS BPA, PVC, AND PHTHALATE FREE?
While most Tovolo products are BPA free, there are a few products that are made with Polycarbonate which can contain BPA. Products that are BPA free have a BPA FREE icon listed next to them in the product information section on our website and catalog. None of our products contain Phthalates or PVC.

*CAN YOU PUT IN THE MICROWAVE TO SOFTEN ICE CREAM A LITTLE TO GET IT OUT OF THE CONTAINER EASIER?
On multiple occasions, I have put it in the microwave minus the lid for 10 seconds to soften ice cream with good success and no apparent damage to the container. The container shape also makes it easy to drag your ice cream scoop over the surface to create nice, round scoops from even very firm ice cream.

*DOES THIS WORK TO HOLD HOMEMADE ICE CREAM?
Yes it does. We have a Cuisnart ice cream maker and it holds the entire bowl of it.

*IS THE BASE GLASS, PLASTIC OR WHAT?
The base is made of plastic with a non-slip surface on the bottom.

*WHETHER TOVOLO ICE CREAM TUB IS DOUBLE WALL?
Yes - it's two separate pieces that come apart but that result in there being two wall layers. If you look at the image of the product, the darker orange rim is one piece - and the piece that the ice cream actually sits in - the opaque lower orange part is the outer wall that attaches to the darker orange piece and forms the second wall.

*DOES IT COME WITH A LID?
Yes, it comes with a lid. This is very nice, easy to clean and fits great in the freezer.

*HOW MUCH ICE CREAM DOES THIS HOLD? 1 QUART ETC? THANKS.
It holds between a quart and a half gallon. I use a quisinart ice cream maker, and whatever amount I get from that is what I put in the Tovolo.

It works perfect for storing just made ice cream. Could be a little bigger for one batch.

Really makes a difference in how creamy your homemade ice cream stays! Purchase if you make your own ice cream! You won’t be sorry!

Love these. It's my second one and the only improvement would be for it to be two quarts. The 2 1/2 quart size is too bit. But this fits perfectly and homemade ice cream stays nice and ice free!

Great shape. Easy to place in freezer. At times lid does not close or seems to pop open slightly but ice cream has not crystalized. Love it

This container holds a lot of ice cream without taking up a lot of space in the freezer. The design makes scooping ice cream out of it easy without waste in corners like you get with disposable cartons. The top also seals nicely to keep the ice cream from getting freezer burn.

We put ours in the dishwasher, which Tovolo says you can do. I saw conflicting reviews about it being difficult to put back together. The problem with ours is that the outer layer bends in a little but on the sides after we washed it in the dishwasher. It can then be a pain to get the inner tub locked in place because you have to pull out on the 2 sides of the outer container. In hindsight I would only put the lid and inner layer in the dishwasher and hand wash the thinner outer container.
