It might seem old fashioned but this pine tar soap is as dependable for gently but successfully cleansing and moisturizing skin and hair as it was when it was first formulated back in the 1870s.
Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap is a vegetable based soap with many skin-nourishing properties. Great for bathing, showering, shaving and shampooing.
The idea of putting something called "tar" on your skin may seem questionable at first, but pine tar has been used to help soothe troublesome skin conditions for centuries.
Boasting natural antibiotic, antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, pine tar oil (from pinus palustris) can help soothe dry, itchy, red and scaly skin, reduce dandruff and acne, and deodorize skin and hair.
Additionally, pine tar soap can be used to shampoo hair (great for beards too), without drying it out or leaving behind greasy residue.

Ingredients:
Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate / Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Pinus Palustris Wood Tar, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Gluconate

Product FAQ
*ARE YOUR SOAPS BIODEGRADABLE?
Grandpa's Soap is completely biodegradable. All surfactants used in Grandpa's are biodegradable. This means all surfactants (sudsing/cleaning agents) are broken down into simpler compounds by natural biological action helping to eliminate sudsing/foaming problems in lakes and streams.

*WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PINE TAR 3.25 OZ & PINE TAR 4.25 OZ SOAP?
Absolutely nothing. There is no difference between the two sizes of the Pine Tar Soap. The two sizes use the exact same formula and simply provide size options to the consumer.

*WHAT CHANGED WITH THE BAKING SODA SOAP?
Our previous formula of Baking Soda was an unscented product. This changed with the reformulation of Baking Soda. This soap was crafted to include Epsom Salt, and infused with a composition of natural scent (determined to be natural according to the International Standard for Aromatic Natural Raw Materials (ISO 9235) and free of artificial fragrance ingredients) and Essential Oils which include Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citrus Auranitium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil.

*WHY ISN'T THE COLOR OF GRANDPA'S PINE TAR SOAP CONSISTENT?
Pine tar is a natural ingredient so there may be variations in color or scent. And since we do not want to add any ingredients that aren,t necessary, we do not use stabilizers.

*DOES THIS SOAP CAUSE DRY SKIN? I WANT TO USE IT ON MY FACE, BUT IT GETS DRY REALLY EASILY.
No, coal or pine tar soaps are different than other soaps and can actually help dry skin. It cures flair ups of seboratic dermatitis and psoriatic skin in small amounts.

*AS A MAN ASKING OTHER MEN, HOW DOES THIS SOAP MAKE YOU SMELL? I REMEMBER IT SMELLING LIKE BEEF JERKY IN THE BOX
Makes me smell clean. There is a pine/woodsy smell that is strong at first but I've come to enjoy it more lathers up well yet washes out easily and thoroughly.

*I HEARD THAT THIS SOAP HELPS FACE REMOVE SPOT REALLY?
The soap helps remove some types of spots/rashes. I used it for an allergic reaction I had. There was a significant difference after I used this soap

*IS IT GOOD FOR RAZORS BUMPS
It has definitely reduced the amount of razor bumps I get.

*CAN I USE THIS SPECIFICALLY TO TREAT DANDRUFF ON MY HEAD OR IS IT MEANT FOR ANOTHER USE?
Yes. My boyfriend used the pine tar shampoo for a while, but he swears the bar works better for his chronic dandruff.

While I was pregnant with my son developed this horrible pregnancy rash everywhere! Nothing helped from prescription creams to prescription allergy pills. Until I found this soap!!!! This was the only thing that provided any relief. I used it 2 or 3 times a day as needed and left the soap on the affected areas for about 5 minutes before rinsing. I would highly recommend to anyone with this same problem!!

PUPPPS: Ladies with PUPPPS from pregnancy/post-partum...this soap REALLY HELPS! Make sure to only take cool showers since heat will worsen the puppps rash (AM & PM: lather with this soap & let it sit on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing off - make sure you only use the SOFTEST, baby-soft washcloth on the rashes or just use your hands to lather if you donít have anything super soft). This soap smells like a campfire & charcoal - which I liked, made me want a pumpkin spice latte ;). Also for PUPPPS try applying hydrocortisone cream to the rashes to control the itch & drink a lot of tomato juice & chamomile tea! I also went on Prednisone which helped, so if youíre PUPPPS is really bad then Iíd consider that too! Make sure you avoid cocoa butter & hydrating lotions for now - anything hydrating made my rash worse.
