Use this to remove chicken manure from my gravel lined coop. The finish on it is well coated so the manure doesn't stick to the shovel and slides off easily. I suspect it will last years as it stays clean from moistured materials adhering to it after use.

This shovel is extremely heavy. Well built but too heavy to use.

Sturdy and easy to use. Handle is longer than I like but it does what I need it to do. I have a lot of rocks in my yard so this is making it easier to sift throughout my yard.

We use hemp bedding in our coops. It's way better than wood chips, lasts much longer, and eliminates nasty odors. Problem is, it's expensive initially. The holes in this shovel are the perfect size to sift the hemp but not the poop, making their bedding last at least much longer, making the hemp much cheaper than wood chips. How long? Idk because we haven't had to replace any bedding yet, and have only added a few scoops of bedding on top about 4x this year. The coops always look and smell fresh now, and cleaning out our largest coop (20 x26) takes about 10 minutes once a week. In a nutshell, this shovel is worth every cent!!

It is lightweight, it is long enough so I don't have to bend over too much. And it sifts all I need to sifts to clean my borders that I had place lava rock and want to remove them now!

I use sand as substrate in my covered chicken run, but I have been using a variety of inferior tools to sift and clean the run each week, including a rake and scoop shovel, a long-handled kitty litter scooper, and a homemade sifting rake made from a pitchfork and hardware cloth. Finally decided to spend the money and pick up this genius implement to make chicken chores easier. No regrets! Well, I actually regret not buying it sooner. The long handle means I no longer have to stoop over. I use a big red horse bucket to hold the droppings while I sift. The job takes half as much time as before, doesn’t strain my back, and less sand is thrown on the compost pile. The shovel’s edges also help break up sand that has solidified from getting wet. Worth the price!

I'd bought another brand that had a wooden 48 inch handle. I'd left it propped against the pile of wood chips and delivery driver ran over it and snapped the handle. When I decided to replace the handle with the synthetic ones it only cost me $7 more to purchase this one instead. It's heavy. But once you get used to that it's a great tool well made.
