For years I held off buying this net because of the price and went with a cheaper net. A net is definitely the way to go after horses and goats wasting hay, I went from just over a week per 6' round bale to close to 3 weeks But after repairing the net every time I put in a new bale we decided to go with this Texas heavy duty net. It saves tons of time in just putting it on the hay because most of the nets out there are formed to fit the round bale and it's a struggle to get them to fit around the bale, partly because our bales are 6' and even though the cheaper net say they fit a 6' bale they really are for a 4-5' bale. The Texas net is a nice big round flat net that drapes over the bale. I have a round feeder and attach the heavy rope to the three legs of the feeder and that keeps the animals from lifting and feeding under the net. I've been using this net now for about 6 months and yet to even see a worn spot on the net, much less have to repair it. I have three horses and 4 good sized goats and they can be pretty destructive so I did expect damage but there is none partly because the net is strong and well made but also because it is actually made large enough to cover a 6' bale and be loose enough that it “gives” when the animals eat. Two of my horses are hard keepers and they have no problem getting enough hay to keep their weight on even in our cold Idaho winters.

Sturdy lifesaver! No more mess, 5 horses, 18 days on 1 big round bale. Horses figured it out fast, no hay waste and no big mess to clean up. Worth every penny!

Well designed, well constructed. Use CAUTION when introducing this product to your horses. As my 18yo gelding was eating during the first night of use, he somehow got his front teeth stuck in the webbing, and was startled. His reaction caused him to rip out 4 front teeth. I would recommend buying the lighter gauge option first, and ‘graduating' them to the heavy duty version, if ever needed.
