I'm a contractor and I'm always digging holes. I also build a lot of fences. I have tried augers, other types of post hole diggers, and I also have a nice Sthil auger. This post hole digger is amazing, it's a beast. If you don't have upper arm strength I wouldn't get it, but if you have the muscle power this thing makes holes fast. Or if you want a great work out this might be the tool for you. I use it a few times weekly and it's a must have for me. I wish I had bought it a long time ago. I also use a long metal pole to help dig up rocks and roots and a Bosh saw saw with pruning blades to cut out roots. With this post hole digger and the metal pole I can usually dig holes a lot faster then with a nice auger.Five stars for this tool!!!It may seem expensive compared to other post hole diggers but it's worth every penny.

Received the other day and this thing is a tank! Used it to dig a few fence post holes and plant some shrubberies over the weekend.Pros:- High Quality/Heavy Duty construction that gets the job done in short order.- Takes on small embedded rocks with no problem.- Heavy, but weight is needed to get through tough Virginian clay soil. Will definitely give you a upper body workout, love it.Cons: None.Love this thing... It's a beast and makes the 30 dollar box store crap look like a weak tin can.WORTH IT!

These post hole diggers are heavy duty and work fine but they make a bigger hole than normal requiring more cement per hole. These are heavier than normal too, which is okay. They get the job done.

This makes short work of digging holes for posts and to plant small trees, I've planted several trees with holes dug with this and dug holes for 4 metal posts for a stairs using this. It is hard work to dig but this works much better and removes soil compared to using a normal shovel. I guess if you have more work than this you need an electric auger, but for a few posts or planting a few trees this is great.
