Perfect solution for stair way gate for when grands visit. No need to drill holes in wall! Sturdy and has a walk-thru gate so you don't have to climb over the gate!

The sides are adjustable and have plastic hinges. One of the joint hinges cracked from just lifting the panel to adjust it. So now its not stable enough to use.

I have owned this gate for eight years. Bought it directly from Richell when I got a ten week-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. It is very sturdy and has held up beautifully!! A large dog could easily push it out of place, but the gate snaps firmly into place. It would be difficult for an animal to open the gate since it has to be lifted slightly in order to swing it open. I highly recommend it for smaller dogs.

After long hours of searching for a gate to fit my stairs at the base of my stair giving me room to step down, I ended up having to order this one. I didn't want to pay this much for a dog gate but I was very happy when I found out it worked. The gate I needed, had to be tall, bars close together, adjustable width, have a door that would open in the front or back and free standing. The gate door opens easily and opens wide for passage either side. The flexibility of the gate enabled me to position it where I needed it. It could be a little more stable when opening the gate door it can move a little and that is why I gave sturdiness a 4. I gave it a five because it was the only gate I could find that would work. My little Yorkie puppy s a jumper, climber and can move faster than lightening.

We have a fairly open floor plan and needed a gate where we don't really have walls (just furniture pieces) so this was ideal. The gate is very sturdy and easy to open. Very happy with my purchase despite how expensive it was.

Stylish but not durable. Did keep the Husky in her place but one of the little legs broke when my 10 year old tripped in it. Had it less than 2 months. A lot of money wasted.

I like that it is free standing and does not rely on the wall or doorway to keep it up. The doorway in the gate swings either way and will stay open to allow us to always leave it up even when the grand puppy is not visiting.

We bought this gate in anticipation of visitors' dogs over the holidays. It is easily the best dog gate we've ever had, though at $140 it was definitely overpriced. This is our second free-standing dog gate; we have tried several spring-loaded ones.Pros: very easy to maneuver, adjustable to fit whatever doorway you're looking to gate, withstood two 20lb puppies scratching and trying to tip it over for an entire week. We did have to reposition the gate so that the sides were inside the room where we kept the pups, as one learned if she pushed it hard enough the gate would slide back and she could squeeze out the angled side panel. No issues after we repositioned it!Cons: My husband said the gate was a little hard to assemble, though found it no more challenging than Ikea furniture. My elderly mother did sometimes trip because she did not pick up her feet enough to get over the threshold, which caused the gate to wobble and made her unsteady. Final con: our home is old and the floors are uneven, so we really wish this gate came with adjustable feet to balance it on uneven floors (if you have level floors this won't be an issue).
