This bit was good for 6 holes through 1/4" mild steel before getting too dull, and that was with lubrication and pre-drilling a pilot hole. If you only need it for one project it's a good option considering the low price, but it is a disposable item. If you need to drill many holes through steel get a cobalt bit.

I don't think this drill bit even realized it was cutting anything as I widened the holes in my steering knuckles for larger caliper bolts.

Ordered 45/64 drill bit. The box is labled 45/64. The bit is actually a 5/8. Not cool.

I was enlarging an existing hole, it chipped a shredded the hole out larger and the cover plate covered up the mess it made. The bit did what it was suppose to do. The wood was a bit soft and wanted to come a part. Nice!
