So happy I read all the reviews before committing to this chain set. We should have practiced putting on the chains before we left but didn't think we would really need them. We arrived at midnight from our 7 hour drive only to discover we couldn't make it up the hill to the driveway of our Airbnb without chains. The first one was a bit tricky but once we figured it out the second one took only 5 minutes to install. They held up great for out 3 day trip. Even drove home in a blizzard down the mountain. So happy we had these.

This was my first ever set of chains bought for a planned trip to the mountains. Verify that you buy the right size. It can be confusing the first time you lay them out. I would say it's CRITICAL to try them out before you need them. Once you get familiar with the process it really is pretty genius. Putting them on without having to drive forward over them is quite easy. Make sure you open the ratchets and pull out the slack before you start . Supposedly they should be able to be removed without driving over, but I found that it's just easier to drive off of them once detached. Can't speak for long term durability as I may not use them again for quite a while.

These chains go on quick and tighten up more than I thought they would. I still put the rubber keeper on them for extra safety. They are really durable and will get you to your cabin safely. I took a trip to Brek and ended pulling out two cars with these chains on.

I bought 4 each of these to use on my 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4x4. We have a ranch in central Texas and when it shows here, accumulations can be anywhere from an inch or two up to 18 inches.Despite having a 4 wheel drive vehicle, it is critical that tires 'bite' into snow in order to get traction. These cables have done the job on both snow and on roads covered by snow having a layer of ice under the snow. Traction is superior when driving at speeds under 40 miles per hour and I never exceed that limit when snow is on the roads.Installation is a bit tricky for me, but I suspect much easier for anyone not having arthritis and other flexibility issues. I simply place the chains on the concrete floor in my barn, back up centered on the cables and then fold and drape the cables up the front and back side of the tires then clamp them in place as stated in the instructions. The rubber cable tensioner snugs the cables nicely and is the final step in attaching them prior to leaving my barn then driving a distance on our dirt roads before we leave the property and get onto an actual asphalt road.If and when we have traveled far enough out of the snow or ice region, I quickly remove the cables before driving any distance on bare asphalt because no cable would last long with friction on a rough surface.The cables are easier to remove than to install and it isn't really necessary to have a jack or a lift to install or remove them.

The self tensioning system allows you to install the chain with easy yet once they are all connected, you can just start driving and it will adjust by itself, not needing to stop occasionally to check on any loosenesses. My car is a from wheel drive Highlander, so I was a bit worried if I would not run into any situations during our family travel to the ski resort, but the chain was effective and reliable. Only addition is to have long sleeve protector and water resistant gloves to be able to get around to the back side of the tires and you will be perfectly prepared for even the heavy snows that fell this year in the Sierras!

According to the manufacturer sizing chart the tire chains (232605) should fit the tire size LT265/70R17. But they don't fit. The cable of the tensioner does not extend enough to get both ends connected. Also the chain is not centered on the tire tread - basically it is too small (width). Then, I went up one size (232805) since I believed they should fit now. But these chains are too large. The chain sits loose on the tire. Bottom line, these chains will not work for LT265/70R17 tires.

Fortunately I haven't needed to use them yet but I know that if/when that time comes I will be able to easily and quickly put them to use.
