Directions: To introduce your dog to the toothpaste, apply a small amount onto your finger and allow dog to taste. Next, apply a small amount onto the Petrodex toothbrush or finger toothbrush. Then, gently pull the lips and cheeks up. Begin brushing with short, back-and-forth strokes at the gumline. Brush only a few teeth the first time. Give a lot of praise during this process. Avoid using human toothpaste on your pet. For best results: Brush at least 2-3 times per week. Use a soft-bristled Petrodex toothbrush designed for pets.

He really is not a fan of this and after getting the finger brush stuck on my finger I haven't honestly tried a lot since the first time. I feel if I used it regularly his teeth would look pretty good.

She does like it, but I don't really know - how does one? - whether it does a good job. In any case after applying a bit of the toothpaste to a regular human toothbrush, I dip the bristles in baking soda (as recommended) and brush with the mixture. And Lexi likes the mix. There is no discernible scent. Our vet reports that her teeth look good.

We haven't liked toothbrushing. It's always been kind of a struggle but I tried this based on other reviews and it's made all the difference. To be honest, I don't know how effective it is but what I do know is he likes it so much he'll let me brush his teeth. He has a ratty horrible old toy that used to be a clown but now is just a chunk of cloth that I throw in the washer once in a while. I keep it because he still loves it. I rub a little toothpaste on it and he chews away and I figure that helps wipe his teeth. I also only use children's toothbrushes from Dollar tree ($1.25 for 4) and I get a new one every two weeks. I let him chew the dickens out of the old ones and of course put a little toothpaste on there. Again, I figure it'll scrub on his teeth. No, I don't let him eat the bristles.

My dog loves the flavor. Unfortunately it is a yellowish brown color and gets on the fur around his mouth and makes a mess. The brand I used before this was clear. So much easier to use.
