I just received the pie plate and haven't had a chance to bake with it yet. But I wanted to write this review for others who, like me, might have gotten spooked by all the negative reviews about a broken or easy to open lid. I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did. My pie plate came with a lid that was intact and was fairly straightforward to open.

This is an excellent dish with a cover for any recipe that calls for a two quart container.it leans perfectly in the dishwasher. I had lots of 1.5 quart dishes, but strangely not one meant for two quarts. It is attractive and functional.

I received the loaf pan with lid today and the lid was broken. I am unable to take the lid off. I already ordered a replacement and look forward to receiving one in prefect condition. Fingers crossed!In the past I have ordered the pie plate with lid and that lid also came broken. So I should have had an idea that the loaf pan might have come broken, but I did not. I ordered a replacement for the pie plate and that one came in prefect condition. Order at your own risk.

Pie Plate has a generous rim and lid that leaves plenty room for a fluffy meringue. Cover fits firmly on the pie plate making it easy to transport. There are also slits in the cover to allow steam to escape from a hot pie. The quiche I took to a social gathering would have been to the top rim of my other pie plate. No worries about the lid coming off in the floorboard of my car.

This pie plate and cover is nearly perfect, but with one significant flaw. I've dropped two freshly baked pies onto my kitchen floor while putting them into the refrigerator. What happened was I gripped the lid and pie plate in one hand and while bending over to place it onto the bottom shelf of the frig the lid slid off the plate and everything hit the floor, upside down, yuck. The result was a HUGE mess on the tile floor I had to clean up. The good news is the pie plate/pan didn't break being dropped from about 20 inches, so it's sturdy enough. The problem in the design is the two clips that hold the lid to the glass rim are not enough to secure the lid properly. The lid really needs to have three clips to keep it from sliding off. If you buy this OXO product just be sure to never hold it in one hand with a heavy pie inside.

I broke my other 9X13 in pan. Looked and found this one that has a lid and I'm sooo glad I got it! Love, love, love the lid. No more plastic wrap or foil on it! Thank you OXO!
