Treat and dispose of your alloy tank water on a regular basis at least every one to two weeks or after processing a specific number of units. This is important in order to achieve consistent treatment results.2. Drain alloy tank wastewater into a suitable container (a 5 gallon plastic or steel pail works fine).3. Add and thoroughly mix the proper amount of Cad-Con 1000™ (1 cup or 4 ounces treats 5 gallons). Keep the product suspended in the water for 1 hour by stirring every 15 minutes.4. Place the pail in an area where it can remain undisturbed for at least 24 hours to allow the sediment to settle to the bottom of the pail (up to several days of settling is OK).5. Cad-Con 1000™ acts like a magnet; attracting and chemically binding with dissolved and particulate cadmium and lead in the water. Once the metals are bound, they are much less able to become soluble again and remain trapped in the sediment in a chemically stable form leaving the water clear and free of cadmium and lead.6. Dispose by pouring the clear water into a drain being careful to keep the sediment from being poured out. Remember, the cadmium and lead is now concentrated in the sediment. 7. Dispose of the sediment by pouring out on a pile of used paper towels. The paper will absorb the excess water and allow the sediment to form a paste. This paste contains cadmium, lead and indium from the alloy. If you collect alloy skimmings or dross for recycling, this material can be added to your recycle. Or you can wrap up the dewatered sediment and dispose of it in a dumpster as industrial solid waste.8. If you have an in-house wastewater treatment unit that removes suspended solids, after step 5, the treated alloy tank wastewater and sediment can be mixed with the other liquid wastes for treatment, filtering and disposal within that process.NOTE: Check your local sewer use regulations as they may require specific actions when treating wastewater onsite. Procedure for Treating Optical Laboratory Alloy Reclaim Tank Wastewater Using Cad-Con 1000™

Use the following steps to treat 5 gallons of alloy reclaim tank wastewater.
