Neutrik has engineered the 3rd generation of their world standard professional amplifier/loudspeaker connectors with speakON SPX Series Professional Loudspeaker and Amplifier Connectors.
This new series of speakON connectors feature a higher 50-amp current rating for usage with high-powered speakers and amplifiers carrying more than 1000 watts. Assembly is now faster and easier with less parts to handle and a redesigned insert that does not require any special tools.
Connector type: Cable coupler for linking (extending) cables, 4-pole Rated current per contact: 40 amp RMS continuous, 50 amp audio signal (50% duty cycle) Mfr. #NL4MMX.

It works well when connecting two speakons together to extend their length. I prefer speakons to XLRs by far because XLRs tend to pull away from the adapter and need to be soldered back together. The one advantage XLRs have is that they can be chained together, as they have a male and female end. That's where this coupler comes in.
