The quality and durability of the spout and pouring ability is bare far a lot better that these plastic containers you see everywhere on the market. You can actually control the flow.

It has a lot of safety features built in. Very expensive but worth it.

I have several iterations of this safety can. They will all outlast me. Paid 2x more than I wanted to.

For something that seems like such a simple and utilitarian item, upgrading to an all-metal type 2 gas can is one of the most satisfying purchases I recall making recently. Every single time I pull this thing out to fill it I'm just delighted by its effectiveness. It's sturdy, never spills a drop of gas, stands upright and lets me insert the autofill nozzle from the gas pump and shuts off when it hits 5 gallons just like filling a car. If you do anything where you regularly need gas I can't tell you how happy you will be, just go ahead and buy it you will not regret the extra money compared to all the wasteful plastic ones you've probably seen come and go over the years. I can't believe I'm raving about a gas can but it is really really a quality item.

Ordered: July 25, 2024 / Reviewed: January 11, 2025 Item: Justrite 1 Gallon Green Gas/Oil Can 7210420 I love these gas cans. I own two of them and they've been flawless. They're very expensive, but they don't balloon up or spill gas. They're worth the price, in my opinion. There was one of these gas cans at work that was about 30 years old. That's what got me to order one for myself. I have a 5 gallon and a 1 gallon. I love them both.

The handle was bent, for the cost I would hope for better quality material.

Was tired of having plastic gas cans warp and leak after a couple years so I ended up getting this can to last. Well, it lasted just about 4 years until it too started to leak. Even while being stored in optimal conditions - inside a garage and never beaten up in anyway. A leak formed around the bottom seal lip. So I guess I'll go back to cheap gas cans again...

Easy to operate and appears to be very safe for long term storage of gasoline.

The bottom of the can is so thin that just sitting in my shed cause the heating and cooling to ripple the bottom and it began to leak. I only actually used it once. Notice the can top is like new.

Very impressed. I switched to the Type II Justrite cans a short while ago after having an almost catastrophic incident with a plastic gas can. I was using my pressure washer outside one day and had placed the plastic can a couple feet away from the running pressure washer. Through the course of washing a few cars, the pressure washer slowly vibrated over right next to the plastic gas can (filled with gasoline). I glanced over and notice the muffler was directly pointed at the can and started to MELT the plastic can. I can only imagine what would have happened if that continued and I did not see this to intervene and stop it. I probably would not be here writing the review on these safer cans. Very happy to invest in the Justrite Type II cans now. I have bought eight of these cans now and will never buy another plastic can for fuel. Too dangerous. I have provided a picture of my older plastic can that almost blew up. Very thankful this was not worse.

I've had my can garaged for 4 years. I then began to smell the strong odor of gasoline in my garage. The can had developed a leak where the bottom meets the side. This is frustrating.

I’ve had this container for a few weeks and used it for the first time today. It was very stable on the ground at the gas pumps and in the back of my SUV on the short drive home. The real test came when I transferred three gallons to a smaller can. The flow control handle worked like an absolute dream. It was easy to monitor the flow from a slight trickle to max volume. When I let go, it shut off immediately. The spout is solidly built and easy to bend to fit your needs. I’d like to see a spout cap offered. This is a vast improvement over the atrocious “safety” cans available at the big chain stores. The price is a little shocking but the quality is well worth it. Very highly recommended.

Yes, it’s a lot of money for a gas can but it’s sturdy and safe, and when you handle gas you want to stay safe. Worth the money.

This product reflects what one would expect in quality for something made in the USA. It is also very easy to use and helps minimize accidental gas spills. It is worth the extra expense and easily beats it's competitors like Eagle for quality and price. I am sure this gas can will last a very long time. Goodbye to those terrible red plastic cans!
