For Wood: Mark wood beam with correct spacing. Using a power drill with a 3/8\" bit, drill holes through wood. To prevent a protrusion, this hanger must have a counter sunk nut. To accomplish this, take a 1\" drill bit and drill down 3/4\" on top of wood beam at the top of the 3/8\" hole through wood. Put swing hanger up through 3/8\" hole in wood, place washer on top of swing hanger and attach lock tight nut. Threads should not protrude more than 2 threads past nut, nor more than .12\" above top of wood. Verify that the hanger triangle with the nylon bearing is even with the wood. Shaft of the bolt must be completely in wood. If not the stress point will be on the bolt instead of the bearing and can result in breakage and injuries. For Pipe: Depending upon the diameter of the pipe, you may have to use a longer swing hanger and cut protruding threads off hanger. Mark pipe with correct spacing. Using a power drill with a 3/8\" bit, drill holes through pipe. Put swing hanger up through 3/8\" hole in pipe; place washer on top of swing hanger and attach lock tight nut. Using a hacksaw, cut off all protruding threaded ends past two threads of bolt and remove any sharp edges with a metal file as needed. To prevent a protrusion, this hanger should have a plastic cap placed over the nut on top of pipe. Verify that the hanger triangle with the nylon bearing is flush with the bottom of the pipe. Shaft of the bolt must be completely in pipe. If not the stress point will be on the bolt instead of the bearing and can result in breakage and injuries. When in use this hanger may squeak and this is normal. Grease or oil bushings if squeaking noises are heard. You will need to use S-hooks or shackles from the chain to the swing hangers. Make sure the S-hooks are closed to within .04 to meet ASTM safety standards. To do this you will need to use our S-hook pliers or a regular pair of channel lock pliers. WARNING: Once the S-hooks have been opened they will have to be replaced to avoid injuries from coming open and/or breaking. Make sure that if you are using shackles they are also tightened. You will need to use S-hooks or H-shackles from the chain to the swing hangers. Make sure the S-hooks are closed to within .04 to meet ASTM safety standards.
