Held nuts that were too tight for conventional wrenches and were starting to get rounded. Good to have in the shop. Vise-Grip quality, noticeably better than knock-offs, and I have both.

Exactly what I needed! I work as a Toyota technician, and holding an inner tie rod isn't an easy task when doing a front end alignment. My best wrenches will round over when I have a stuck jamb nut. I started using a pipe wrench to hold the tie rod, but that really scars the metal. I have been looking for a good alternative and this is PERFECT! Holds better and doesn't eat up the metal.

Greatest wrench made for breaking hex head nuts loose. It is physically impossible to slip.

For undersized, rounded off, rust fused brake lines and bleeders, this little tool is usually my go to now.The only time it wasn't of use is on my rear drum bleeder valves, but that's not the tool's fault, there's just no good way to get on them since the wheel cylinder is basically sunk into the rear backing plate. But I still love this locking plier. In fact, I bought the 7LW and the 10LW to go with this 4LW so I now have the set.The Good:Irwin is a well known brand name with a reputation for quality tools, this 4LW is no exception.Feels sturdy in the hand, even for its small size.Crisp action on the locking mechanism.Hex key slot on end of knurled adjustment knob for further tightening.Good grip on rounded off nuts/bolts/fittings/bleeders.The Bad:Nothing to Report.

Smaller than I expected. But the quality you can always expect from vice grip.

Old power steering hose. Tried using my flare nut wrench on it, started to round the corners off the nut. Clamped this on tight, a little muscle, and it finally came loose! The tool I never knew I needed.

Irwin tools are some of the best out there. These locking pliers are going to be used to help remove brake caliper bleed screws, as they can be a pain to get out. I will be ordering the larger pair of these. These pliers are great for when you need them.

Soft or rusty as most brake fittings are won't make a difference using this tool. My only recommendation is to heat the fitting up first if it's really stuck, as this tool will not let go and snap it off.

There are some specific uses for these, such as removing stuck brake caliper bleeder screws. They are small and don't really need much force to remove.

It's very good at hex. Other than that it's kinda useless. I got this one for holding one end of a bolt while I fasten the other hands free. Use to do it with two wrenches one hand on each.Got this then I just clip these on one side and go to town on the other side.Sadly these only work with hex. And some of my fasteners are square. I carry a normal jaw vise grip now but this is a great tool if you have a bunch of hex fasteners. It's not as versatile as the regular jaw versions and sadly these have a range of what sizes they can lock onto.

When I ordered this I thought it was just a small vice-grip. As a plain jane vice-grip it does the job just as well as any other decent quality small vice grip. Its specialty lies in the curves of the jaws. It can clamp onto to any small hex, metric or SAE/imperial, eliminating the need for a myriad of small hex parts for small/quick jobs. It can also clamp on to a bolt or screw that is stripped or that can't be reached with the usual tool.

As the description says, it's the 4LW model.Overall length of tool is 4.75.I believe this is the smallest model that Irwin / Vice-Grip makes. This will handle the smallest of fasteners. There are larger 7 and 10 models...

This looks like it could be the perfect tool for stuck brake line fittings, but you'd be wrong about that like I was. It catches two faces of the nut just fine, but the rounded nub on the opposing jaw doesn't provide enough surface area and just serves to round off the nut. One day someone is going to make parallel jaw locking pliers that will properly clamp a brake line fitting. I can't believe that tool doesn't exist yet.

It's fairly small so it's able to get into tight ish spaces. So far it's done a good job on old rusted bolts. Got it for 13 bucks so can't complain
