The dried herb was fresh and good quality, consistent with my experience buying Frontier herbs directly from the co-op and from another online vendor. With it I make tea to aid heart health.

The ONLY reason I gave this product a 4 instead of a 5 is that the hawthorne felt a little stale.I intially bought this to make an herbal tincture for daily use. Then I read somewhere that many long haulers like myself could possibly have heart inflammation which could be the reason for a chronic cough.I made my own hawthorne heart tonic. I filled up a quart jar with 1/3 dry hawthorne cut and sifted. Topped it off with 100 proof Vodka to fill a little below the lid. Steep 2 weeks. Drain the tincture and set it aside. Take the macerated hawthorne with 4 cups of water and let it cook 7 minutes in my Instapot. It was boiling when I hit the steam release and looked at the concoction. Once the concoction cooled I added 2 cups of honey. Then let it cool some more. For about an hour to room temperature. For each cup of syrup you add 1/4 to 1/3 cup of your original alcohol tincture. The leftover tincture is bottled separately and you could use like I do, about 10ML in a small 3 oz cup with filtered water. Bottle the syrup and put it in the refrigerator. It tastes better cold to me. Mine was more of a hawthorne liquer than a syrup. Here is what I noticed. The coughing has went down quite a bit. The combination of honey and the hawthorne created an expectorant effect. To avoid being gross, I coughed up a lot of stuff and that made a big difference in my breathing. Along with my diaphragm breathing exercises I feel better. Not out of the woods yet, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I mix this with two other teas as my personal everyday tea. Alone it's slightly woody and pleasant, to me, not overwhelming - reminds me of a white tea.

I did not realize how large this bag would be. This will last me forever. So very cost effective. I am now brewing a cup of tea so I can check the taste. But looks great.

I love the flavor, as well the smell of freshness. I mix it 50/50 with Hibiscus Flower to reduce my blood pressure.
