Because I burnt up my last shredder by overuse, I've taken it pretty easy on this one and it's working fine. I just feed one sheet of paper at a time and haven't used it more than 15 minutes at a time. The instruction manual suggested using either a commercial shredder oil or a light cooking oil to lubricate it. I used canola oil, and I couldn't believe how much smoother and quieter it was.

This Fellowes Powershred LX50-DB 9 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder works, simple to use, and can simultaneously shred 8 or 9 sheets of standard printer paper (thickness-wise; so less if your paper stock is thicker). The shreds are pretty fine, they called it security level P-4, meaning that an A4/letter will be shredded approximately into 400 pieces, and this level is ideal for bank statements and business confidential documents.This unit is not super heavy duty, actually pretty light duty, shredding for 5 minutes would require 30 minutes of cool down; so for household use is ok, not too suitable for any office setting. Strangely fun to use, and quite additive and satisfying seeing that it takes almost anything (paper-wise), and shred them up.Multiple safety features, will prevent typical accidents, but still, this is not a piece of toy, so unplug it when you weren't using it, and also don't like kids play around it or treat it as a toy. Don't have it on and unsupervised.Funny thing is, this 9-sheet model is the cheapest out of all 4 variants, even cheaper than the 8-sheet model, and of course the 11- and 12- sheet are more expensive, yet the best bang for the buck is this 9-sheet one.Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review is helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.

We shred all our paper in this house. This shredder is a workhorse. It goes through everything quickly. We have not had any issues with it. I even put through the mail that includes the credit cards. We add the shredding to our compost and have had any issues there either.Love this wish I got it sooner

Nice to finally have a shredder in the house. This one has been working great for us. Cuts things up nicely. We haven't had any jams, but it does reverse easily if you do. Overall, we've loved ours and haven't had any issues with it. Highly recommended.

It chews up at least 8 sheets at a time. It will stop once the bin is full and ready to be emptied. I hope it lasts longer than my other one did.
