Description: 16" Border Half-hoop-This hoop has rounded edges with a smooth sanded finish and was designed to help make perfect quilt boarders. Made from Basswood with a solid wood block closure and a 4" plated set screw to hold your fabric taut. Baste your quilt edge to one end and your quilt stays straight and taut in the 16" half hoop. Height 1 1/4".

Used for quilting along the edge. Worked as expected. It does take some time to pin or sew each edge section onto the frame

I bought this to help quilt the border. It is deep, but not very wide. I needed it more for the width. The edge has to be attached with the leader to keep it from bunching up. I will keep it, but not sure how useful it will be.

I am finishing up my first hand-quilted quilt. I was at the point of starting my borders when I realized my round Thimblelady quilting hoop just wasn't working well near the edges. In fact, I was having a lot of trouble. I suppose I could have sewn extra fabric to the edges, but I decided instead to purchase this hoop. I am SO GLAD that I did. I've had no trouble with it at all. Just pin the quilt edge to the fabric strip and then lower and tighten the outer band. The struggle ended and I am able to continue working on my border. It is was well worth the price. (I did send it out to the garage with my husband who gave it a good sanding before I used it. They really could finish it better.)

I had been wanting a border hoop for a long time. When I finally found this one I was very pleased with how it worked. The construction is high quality. It is not made of thin light weight materials. It is very sturdy. It makes hand quilting along the borders a breeze. This size is perfect for baby quilts as well as larger bed quilts. Most baby Quilts I only had to move it 3 times. Love it!
