Product Description
Billington's dark brown molasses sugar is a soft, moist, fine grained sugar. Rich in natural molasses it has a deep brown color and distinctive toffee flavor. It is ideal for adding flavor to cake and cookie recipes. Also try it in savory BBQ marinades and tomato based sauces.
Why natural brown sugar? Many brown sugars are only brown on the outside, underneath they are really just refined white sugar. Not Billington's! Our natural sugars are simply produced in Mauritius with the aim of locking in, and not refining out, the natural molasses of the sugar cane. This is why our sugars contain so much more flavor and natural color.

In certain weather conditions, this sugar may harden. This is not a sign of deterioration. Simply place the sugar in a basin, cover with a damp cloth, leave overnight and its moistness will return.

The sugar is in a cellophane wrapper in a box. The cellophane wrapper is pretty flimsy, and when you open it, it is likely to tear so as to become unusable or nearly so. Carefully cutting off a portion at the top shoud prevent this.

I love to use this in recipes that call for brown sugar. It has a richer, more complex, slightly less sweet taste than regular brown sugar. Perfect for treats you are baking, especially for people older than children (who might prefer just the plain sweetness of ordinary brown sugar).

It's been a while that I've been wanting to buy muscovado for the desserts I make but I found them to be expensive. Thankfully, I found this great deal here with the subscription discount, I only paid a fraction of the amount. So happy with this purchase! This 10 lbs should last for some time.

Of the many unprocessed sugars I've tried I like this one best. Its flavor is right, it dissolves instantly, and it's compact, so there's more sweetness per spoonful than is found with brands that have looser packaging. I like, too, the individual 1 lb. boxes which offer up a fresh batch of sugar each time one is needed, as opposed to reopening a 5 lb. bag, for example.

A deep, carmel-y flavor/color that adds SO MUCH to any recipe calling for \"sweet\". This is my all-time favorite for making baked beans, my chewy gingersnaps, EVERYTHING!!!!! Melt in your mouth yummilicious :a)
