You also get a 360 degree view of a world you\'ve created and the pleasure of watching it develop and grow, it\'s like a window into another world. The BiOrb Air uses treated sterilized coir compost as the growth media to cultivate the plant roots. The coir compost is placed on top of a capillary mat that draws water up to the compost from a small water reservoir in the base. The capillary action prevents the plant roots from soaking and rotting.Natural daylight is not necessary as the lighting is arranged in a six LED array at the top of the sphere. This emits the perfect light output for encouraging natural growth and prevents plants bending towards a single light source. The light also works on an automatic 24 hour cycle, simulating sunrise, daylight, sunset and night time.To discourage stagnation and condensation within the BiOrb Air, a constantly running fan recycles the air through a replaceable carbon filter. A small amount of fresh air is regularly introduced as part of the circulation process. To maintain the humidity within the micro-climate, water is added using an ultrasonic mister mounted in the top water reservoir. This mister can be set to three different settings: automatic for tropical plant growth, low for a less humid environment and high for certain amphibian and invertebrate animal species. I have been eyeing a Bio Orb for a while. I finally took the plunge.Today, I made time to set it up. I am loving it! I went to the pet store for the wood pieces and an assorted moss kit from the reptile habitat section.A couple of weeks ago, at Bachman's I picked up the mini orchids and the watermelon pepperoma. The moss in the front next to meditating lady is from our yard.I think it's very Zen and beautiful.I will probably add a couple of rocks. For now, I watching and waiting for it to reach the mist cycle. Should be dramatic!!!!

Finally had time to set it up and take it out of the box to find out it does not include the wood piece for hard scape as an every other on boxing video I watched and for the price you would think it would be included instead I had to hunt around for pieces that would fit and it was very annoying

I have had my Biorb for about two years now and it still astounds me every day! I have the perfect ecosystem, the light is great for the plants and the water mister keeps the humidity at the perfect level for my plants?

I have been waiting to purchase this and finally have created the Terrarium of my dreams. If you are buying this than you probably will be able to figure everything out as the instructions and guide is a little anemic. I will say that you need to treat the acrylic orb as if it is the lens of a fine camera. In prep for ordering, I watch a lot of videos regarding the Bio Orb, a few mentioned how easy it is to scratch. I will tell you that it is way easier than you think. When preparing for planting and setup I wiped the inside of the orb with a clean but old and scraggly washcloth. It is cotton, albeit old - it is still a cotton cloth and it scratched the orb. Turn it to the back side and move on, but seriously don't let something stupid like a huge smearing scratch ruin your orb. Be careful.
