Thickness of glass makes it strong and helps retain cold. However, the sleeve does not, it is good to keep condensation from getting on furniture but that's all. Still worth the money and since it is glass no concerns about toxins leaching into the water, or whatever liquid is put into bottle. I have not tried carbonated beverage and do not think it would be a good idea to do so.

I always carry water with me and the different size bottles accommodate daily situations. The 5 oz fitting in my purse. No need to buy bottles water all the time. I filter my water at home and wash and refill these glass bottles. No more plastic to recycle.
