She eventually became paralyzedand blind, but her true suffering came whenshe was no longer allowed to receive from the chaliceduring Communion. Soon after, our Lord appearedto Alice and consoled her by stating that receivingthe consecrated bread was receiving the Bloodas well as the Body of Jesus.On June 11, 1249, Saint Alice became gravely illand it was revealed to her that she had 12 monthsmore on earth. As her agonies increased,she continued to offer the additional sufferingsfor the souls in purgatory. Despite her pains, she wascomforted by still more ecstasies and revelations.On June 10, 1250, as predicted, Saint Alice died.She was canonized in 1907.Saint Alice is recognized today as the patroness ofthose suffering from paralysis.
