There is a chain that keeps the lid from flipping all the way open. the chain and screws holding the chain down is kinda flimsy. when you open and close the lid, the chain is always in the way and you have to move the flimsy chains out of the way to close the lid. the chains also get twisted. not the best design, could have been done with a little more thought. for the price we paid, should have been hydraulic. overall it looks nice and makes our outdoor common space more tidy. on the bottom of the bin are adjustable feet to balance the bin, super helpful. it comes with one special key that unlocks the lid; 2 should have come with the purchase. oh and as i mentioned in the title, it costs a lot.
