So the mfgr does absolutely no pre-drilling as an aid to assembly. Assembly is all about laying out the planks. They tell u to align it with a wall to keep things straight. Well...I did a lot of measuring to insure even spacing and to square it up. Eyeballing certain things is necessary. I only used 9 planks, not the ten provided. This resulted in gaps that work well with the leaves we have falling in the yard. I also used two of my own stainless screws in each board to hold the edges down as much as possible and to keep things from racking. So if you're not used to woodworking, you might get some raggedy results. Good luck.

A bit pricey for 12 pieces of cedar. But the pieces were immaculate and smooth. I added a transparent stain. For a 24 span, maybe a little spongy for heavier folks (me). I needed a quick solution for a big party for safety. Party is over. So I will trace the supports and add one in the middle. Expect it lasts for many years.

Rating: (5/5)I recently added the 6' Cedar Wooden Arch Bridge to my backyard, and I couldn't be happier with the results. This beautiful and functional addition has completely transformed my outdoor space, creating a charming and serene atmosphere. Here's why I absolutely love this bridge:1. Aesthetic Appeal: The cedar wood used in this bridge is not only durable but also exudes natural beauty. The rich, warm tones of the wood are truly stunning and complement any backyard setting. The elegant arch design adds a touch of sophistication, making it a focal point in my backyard.2. Easy Assembly: The assembly process was straightforward, thanks to the clear and detailed instructions provided. It took me about one hour to put it together and seal it with Thompson's. All the necessary hardware was included, and the pieces fit together seamlessly (use cardboard to space your boards!!).3. Sturdy and Durable: Despite its graceful appearance, this bridge is surprisingly sturdy and well-constructed. It easily supports the weight of both myself and my guests as we walk over it. The cedar wood is naturally resistant to decay and insects, ensuring this bridge will stand the test of time.4. Versatile Use: I appreciate the flexibility this bridge offers in terms of placement. I chose to position it over a small creek (creek is a bit of a stretch) running through my yard, creating a picturesque scene. The bridge is versatile and can be used to span water features, walkways, or even as a decorative addition to a garden.5. Low Maintenance: The cedar wood requires minimal maintenance. I applied a sealant to protect it from the elements, and it has held up beautifully even in the face of changing weather conditions. In summary, the 6' Cedar Wooden Arch Bridge has been a fantastic addition to my backyard. Its combination of beauty and functionality has truly enhanced my outdoor space, making it an inviting and charming place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. I highly recommend this bridge to anyone looking to add a touch of elegance and utility to their outdoor environment. It's a worthwhile investment that will continue to bring joy and beauty for years to come.

I bought this bridge to go in my front yard across a dry streambed. As packaged it was decently-constructed and quite pretty. However I needed it to be able to support a wheelbarrow full of dirt, since that pathway is my only access to my side/back yard. So, I used one of the two side supports as a template, and cut a third, identical support from a pressure-treated 2x8. Using stainless screws to match, it now has three supports, and quite easily supported several wheelbarrows full of gravel and leftover river rock.I would very highly recommend sealing the cedar with a good oil-based sealant to keep it looking nice for longer. For the price point, I really can't fault this.

I needed a bridge for light use over my pond stream (for skimmer access), and this was perfect! I can feel it sink in a little when I cross over (I weight 150), but feel like it will hold up fine. Stained mine a traditional cedar color. Would recommend this product!

Transparent wood sealant nicely brought out the wood grain. Countersunk the pre-drilled holes as suggested by others to keep screws below surface of foot planks. As suggested by others, I used thick cardboard pieces as spacers between foot planks, but this didn't quite do it. Added a thin cardboard piece as well, and the combination of thin and thick cardboard spaces worked well to space the planks evenly.

This is the second one I have purchased to step over some rock work, the last one worked over a culvert which occasionally had water in it.I stained it Sedona Red by Minwax which goes well with the Sedona red rocks.I like not having railings.

Very pleased with this bridge: it's sturdy and great quality for the price, exactly what I wanted to span a seasonal brook. I stained the pieces before assembling, and assembly was easy enough for one person. Spacing the treads is a bit fiddly as others have noted (a combination of paint stirrers and shims and patience worked well), and one of the beams was ever so slightly warped so getting the treads flush required a little strategy but was absolutely doable. I shopped around a LONG time before settling on this product and I couldn't be happier with it.

This bridge is made with good lumber and is easy to assemble. I but a coat of marine stain on it before assembly.

Like others, I needed a small six-foot garden bridge to cross a dry streambed. This is an attractive and reasonably sturdy bridge, and the dog is enjoying running back and forth over it. Be careful when unpacking: even on a carpeted surface, one support side ended up with an inch-long piece being gouged out (I glued it back before proceeding). The assembly screws and directions were attached to the lumber so at first I missed it and thought it wasn't sent.I treated the pieces with Thompson's water sealant before assembly. There was some color variation in the cross pieces, so I arranged the pieces in advance before attaching anything to the supports (in my case, putting the darkest pieces at the center and the lightest pieces at the ends). The six foot bridge has 13 cross pieces, so I attached the middle piece after the end pieces so make it easier to place the remaining cross pieces. Got good enough results by eyeballing, but it would've been a neater job if I'd used bits of cardboard to make sure the spacing was even. Assembly went quick since I borrowed some drill bits with built-in countersink and a power screwdriver.
