It has two separate gradient layers for higher particle reduction efficiency and dirt-loading capacity than standard spun or string-wound cartridges. The nominal filtration rating of the pre-filter layer is 50 microns, and the rating of the post-filter layer is 5 microns. The filter is made of spun polypropylene fibers for resistance to chemicals and bacteria. It has an initial pressure drop of less than 1 pound per square inch (psi) at a flow rate of 10 gallons per minute (gpm), and operates over a temperature range of 40 to 145 degrees F (4.4 to 62.8 degrees C). This spun polypropylene filter cartridge meets National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) standard 42 for quality assurance, and is used for treatment of residential, commercial, and municipal drinking water.SpecificationsNominal filtration rating (pre-filter) 50 micronsNominal filtration rating (post-filter) 5 micronsInitial pressure drop at 10 gpm <1 psiTemperature range 40 to 145 degrees F (4.4 to 62.8 degrees C)Maximum dimensions (H x W) 10 x 4-1/2 inches (254 x 114 mm)Materials certification NSF/ANSI standard 42The nominal filtration rating is for a particle removal efficiency of 85%.H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Water filters remove undesirable particles, chemicals, and microorganisms from water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, or biological processes. These filters are ideal for sediment. I have no difference in flow or pressure. I am using them in a Whirlpool WHKF-DWHBB housing. The stock filters for this housing have rubber washers to make a seal on the filter. Being these filters do not have the same assembly the housing ends ???bite??? into the top and bottom horizontal surfaces creating an excellent seal. I do not have any bypass of sediment into my system. I highly recommend these filters.

Have used a number of these filters previously. They last longer that single micron filters for my application. We have very fine clay in our water supply and these filters work well.

This Filter is very easy to change. I just did that and the used filter looked very different in color with all the sediments it trapped. I am happy with the performance.

Works well. There are different types of filters out there, so know why you have a water filtration system to begin with. This is pretty good for sediment, but I wouldn't go 6 months before replacing it again.
