The opaque blue sump is made of reinforced polypropylene for strength and resistance to chemicals, and the black cap is made of high-flow polypropylene (HFPP) for stiffness. The black cap has 1” female National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) threaded input and output connections and a nitrile butadiene rubber (Buna-N) O-ring to ensure a watertight seal. A pressure relief button on the inlet side of the cap releases pressure in the housing for changing filter cartridges. The housing can be used with a 10” x 4-1/2” filter cartridge (sold separately). It has an initial pressure drop of 1 pound per square inch (psi) at a flow rate of 15 gallons per minute (gpm), a maximum operating pressure of 100 psi, and a maximum operating temperature of 100 degrees F (37.8 degrees C). This filter housing meets National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) standard 42 for quality assurance, and is for use in various high-flow applications, including residential drinking water filtration, food service, and irrigation, among others.SpecificationsFilter cartridge size (H x W) (sold separately) 10 x 4-1/2 inches (254 x 114 mm)Initial pressure drop at 15 gpm 1 psiMaximum temperature 100 degrees F (37.8 degrees C)Maximum pressure 100 psiMaximum dimensions (H x W) 13-1/8 x 7-1/4 inches (333 x 184 mm)Materials and structural integrity certification NSF/ANSI standard 42H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Water filters remove undesirable particles, chemicals, and microorganisms from water by means of a semipermeable barrier, adsorption, or biological processes. This filter was installed in an irrigation system that's fed from a well. It filters any rust from the water that's used in a greenhouse. It's good practice to put a pressure gage before and after a filter or strainer. The gage after will tell you when the filter element will need changed

So I read that these leak and are nothing but issues. But I couldnt resist due to the price compared to other brands. I bought 6 of the 4.5x10 versions and figured people just werent really that knowledgeable on pluming. Let me tell you they definitely leak. The lower portion that holds the filter has a very small indent thats supposed to hold the o-ring and the head unit where the o-ring seals against is not flat finished so the basic supplied o-ring really need to be squeezed super super tight inorder to get it to seal. Also the lip is not substantial enough to hold the o-ring in place so you must be very careful. One came with silicon grease so I applied it to all the orings to help hold them in place. even then you may find for the first few days its leak free to later find your basement floor covered in water because it decided to leak again. Im going to try a silicone type o-ring (softer material) and see if it seals the imperfect surface better. The filter assembly is only rated for 75psi and 100psi max. My system is 55psi from the well and 75 psi from the internal pump. In order to tighten them I had one guy hold the fixture while I used a 30 ratchet to tighten it on TIGHT AS I COULD. As of now the leaks have stopped but I dont trust it.Pro; definitely made of solid material and looks as though theres a spot for a pressure gauge if you drill and tap it.

I've been using this system for 5yrs. During this last deep freeze, it busted, thus I replaced it. I was not impressed with the O-ring as it seemed just a bit too large. (Possibly stretched out). It took me 7 tryst before it seated properly with no leaks.

Works fine. You have to use the little tube of grease that came with it on the rubber seal (just a thin coat) so that it doesn't “bunch” the rubber up, causing it to leak.
