The traditional board is for the birds! You know you've always hated try to carefully spin the board and then having the fix the letters a million times. This is the way to play Scrabble. There's no box you'll have to eventually tape, either. The case opens up to reveal a beautiful and updated color scheme and the board then spins on little, hardly noticeable wheels within the case. They're really nice and sturdy. You can also keep everything in the two built in drawers.Aside from an automatic scorekeeper, this deluxe version has EVERYTHING you've ever wanted in a game board.

If you like Scrabble, you'll really like this set. Everything about the design makes the game more enjoyable to use.

It's much more than just a toy. It's educational; fun and entertaining. It keeps the brain working. Having it in this deluxe travel edition makes it easy to cart around, yet it keeps all the letters in place. I also ordered the Official Scrabble Dictionary to 'go' with this.

Great game. Love the side compartments to keep bag of letters and letter holders. Like the plastic letter holders but not long enough if playing alternate game of 9 letters.

This is pretty posh! Seems like everyone has a beef: I don't like the black tiles and the diamonds on the 2 "blank" tiles. Mom loves the black tiles, though, so my beef is cancelled out in my own home. Anyway, my favorite part is how quickly you can flip the board open and start playing. Done? Just as quick to fold up and neat to store. Wish all games came in a fold-out version like this. The board turns very easily, even on a textured table cloth. The spinning wheels are well made and at just the right angle for spinning the board. I also really like that there's no glare on the board; it's matte finish is easy on the eyes. That's good, because it is a bit odd to have the bonus squares a different color than on the other scrabble boards I've played on... I actually have to read what they say to see if they're double word or tripple letter. Over all: Super spiffy. Well worth the investment.

the game is somewhat bulky for a portable scrabble set. the odd bulbous design makes it bigger than a standard board. the design could have easily been streamlined to a smaller size. worst of all is the color of the squares. for example, dark blue was always the square for a triple letter. now it's for a double letter. for long time players this is a bit disconcerting as one tends to subconsciously tally up a potential score at a glance. played today and my opponent and i found the colors off-putting. for new players this would not present a problem. just wondering but do the different color schemes have to do with a copyright when hasbro started making the game instead of milton bradley or selchow & righter?
