I bought the Deluxe Edition back in 1977 which had a similar, but one-piece, board attached to a turntable. My friend and I play it often and she has lamented that she can't find a board like mine. So I saw this one and bought it as a Christmas gift for her. She was very pleased with it and liked the two drawers it has. I didn't get to see how well it turns, yet, but it looks like the little wheels will work well. I like the curved letter racks, and the tiles seem to be better quality than in my 1977 version.

This did not come in the original scrabble box, which was disappointing. Since its a collectors item, I wanted to store it properly.

Scrabble sure has come a long way since I was young! This is an awesome Scrabble kit. I remember the old sets, you had to rubber band the box closed to keep the tiles from falling out. This plastic case has slide compartments on each side to keep the tiles and your tile holders in place.Open the board like a suitcase, and strong nylon(?) bands keep the bottom edges together to form a flat playing board. When you are done playing, fold the two sides together and magnets keep the suitcase closed.Little wheels on each side of the board make it easy to slide the board from player to player, saving the need to reach across the table to play your letters. Much easier! The only real con I can see is that the trays on each side slide out upside down, so if your tiles are loose they will fall out. Just remember to OPEN the board first, then reach under the edge and slide out the trays. That way they will both be open side up and whatever is in the tray will not fall out.I give this a 5 star rating. We have an RV, and the ease of carrying this, the compact design and the ease of set-up makes it a perfect travel game! When the board is open it is a little smaller than I remember my old Scrabble game being, but that might just be my memory going. It is a perfect travel size. Definitely recommend this game!
