This art table far exceeds my already high expectations based on prior reviews and my research. It's much sturdier than I expected, especially the glass shelf. It is really quite beautiful with the blue glass accents. The only visual flaw are the oddly placed circular cup holders, off-center, in an oval shaped space. Considering the quality and design of the rest of the desk, this actually surprises me.The cup holders were also the only part of assembly that caused me quite a bit of confusion, as there is NO REASON that I can deduct for the placement of the first nut. I assembled the desk by myself (so it can be done, it's just a little tricky in the initial stages). I did a full inventory of parts and was highly organized before I began assembly, and it took several hours to construct. I was somehow missing one screw, but for the corkboard mount, probably the only area where a missing screw is easily replaced by a hardware store version. So BE SURE TO COUNT YOUR NUTS & BOLTS (just in case). The directions are straightforward pictures... With some common sense mixed in.I've honestly never assembled a piece of furniture without issues with holes not lining up properly or pieces not being punched precisely... Until this desk. I was quite impressed by this. This desk is STURDY, with so many unique and functional features. The workspace is generous, but not overly large. I'm using the desk in my home art studio, and it fits quite nicely in a very small home studio. Without leg extensions, I'm still in need of a higher chair than a standard 18 height dining room chair. I ordered an inexpensive Boss task chair that will hopefully over just enough lift to still able my feet to be planted in the ground. I did purchase the leg extensions, so that I can convert the desk later if desired. I draw/paint and I use water soluble pencils quite frequently, so I wasn't planning to use the tabletop lift much. WASN'T. The tabletop lift at varying angles is actually one of my favorite parts about the desk. This desk is in high demand for a reason. It is by no stretch of the imagination an absolutely perfect desk: Storage space, multifunctional work surface, compact, and aesthetically so very pleasing to the eye...I had my eye on this desk for a couple of months before I purchased it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for an art table. It is everything everyone says it is/raves about in their reviews... and more...

Comes with all tools for assembly in box - took one person about an hour and a half to put together. Well made and my artist loves it. Just wish it was taller to start with instead of having to buy extensions.

I spent quite a bit of time searching for a table that I could use for painting. I finally decided to go for this Studio Designs table and I'm glad I did. It is very well built, easy to put together, and has ok instructions. I purchased the leg extensions also since I sometimes stand while I paint. I placed a monitor on the upper shelf and use the cork board and magnets to display photos of my subject matter. One note: The upper glass shelf can not be raised or lowered....only the cork board/magnet section can be moved up or down. (And of course the table top does tilt to various levels). The table inserts are very nice for holding brushes, bottles, etc. Lot's of space underneath too. A very good buy!!!!!

This desk is just what my girlfriend was looking for (she's an art/graphic design student). The desk was easy to assemble and required minimal parts and screws. The glass-top piece is a bit heavy and might require two people to assemble comfortably. It works great and the multi level tabletop is ideal for drafting work. It's a bit large, so plan on using up a bit of room when assembling. All the pieces arrived in great condition. I highly recommend it.

Desktop is solid, easily adjustable, easily moveable, easy to build and is an illustrator's perfect workspace. I'm very happy with it and am glad I spent the extra cash for it. This will be in my office for a long time...

I've assembled a lot of furniture over the last 50 years and I Can't remember any that went together smoother. The instructions were well drawn diagrams without the usual lousy translated text. All the hardware was neatly compartmentalized & easy to find nothing missing & nothing extra. The metal is of a fairly decent gauge so as to make it pretty sturdy, they could have done a few more welds but it does seem adequate. Some complain about the cross bars... when I first put them up they didn't seem to align, so I tried flipping them over & they lined right up. Maybe I was lucky or maybe they aren't symmetric. I'm not sure i like a glass shelf held on by suction cups over a glass table top, but it seems pretty steady & if it loosens there's always RTV. It's not something a professional artist would want I think, but for my 17 year old budding Escher it's perfect. Well worth the $

Now it is mine! It was a little harder to assemble than I had hoped, the lack of worded instructions is sometimes hard to deal with, and caused much examining and re-examining of the images in hopes of putting it together right. but it works perfectly for my needs, will be adding a slim flourescent light under the table top for a light table. The top shelf could be alot sturdier I am considering anchoring that to the wall so I can attach a extendable light with magnifier from above.
