I have put about 2400 hours on each of my two current JJ GZ34s. They have performed flawlessly. They still test like new. I use one in a vintage shortwave set where a 5U4 was called for. The GZ34, having only a fraction of the internal resistance of it's predecessor, gives a much needed and welcome B+ increase. It is so nice to get the benefits of the low internal voltage drop of the GZ34 while still getting the benefit of heated cathode power up sequencing for the gear that must have it. My other GZ34 is in a Dynaco ST-70. It should be noted that the Dynaco ST-70, in all it's original glory, provides only about 61 ohms (per plate) of calculated peak current limiting. Per the GE tube manual 100 ohms would be needed in an ST-70 application. This protects the cathode from both inadvertent hot switching and "instantaneous" power glitches. I provided the additional protection externally. The less convenient method of downsizing the mains fuse a notch also works. In conclusion, I find this tube well built while delivering performance every bit as good as the originals.

This was a great replacement over the stock rectifier tube in my new AC30, comboing this with a matched quartet off JJ EL84s and some Tungsol 12AX7s really brought this amp roaring to life. Really brought out the rich harmonics and Vox chime these amps are famous for. Shipping was extremely fast, will buy these again when needed.
