I got this "toy/tool" a week ago, charged it up and tried it out. It definitely works and it's pretty fun to use, but not the most efficient way to skim your pool.PROS: works well, fun to use, good battery life and range.CONS: less efficient than using a regular pool skimmer, and somewhat inconvenient to set up, quality of materials and design is questionable, motors are a little louder than I expected (but not overwhelmingly so).OTHER NOTES:1. Quality: The battery is a just a bare plastic-wrapped battery pack that you have to plug into the boat with bundle of loose wires tipped with a fairly flimsy plastic clip. Overall, it looks like something you'd solder together in your basement with parts from radio shack. Also, the screws that hold the main parts together are made of plastic, and I actually broke the head off one of them while assembling it. Just a little too much torque was all it took. Fortunately, the thing still seems to hold together okay.2. Operation: Once I got it all assembled and used it, it worked pretty well. The motors are rather loud (about like a cheap electric toothbrush), but it is pretty responsive, maneuverable, and overall very easy to drive around the pool. It does a good job picking up debris. However, it is not as quick as doing it the old fashioned way, especially when you factor in the little bit of extra hassle involved in getting it out of wherever you store it and putting the battery. The battery life, so far, seems more than enough to skim the whole pool and then some.3. SUMMARY: Overall, I wouldn't recommend this if you're just looking for a better way to clean your pool. It's more effort than just using a pole skimmer, and there are better, cheaper, and probably much more durable alternatives out there for doing this work. But if the cost is not really an issue for you, it does do a good job of cleaning and it's fun to use, so overall it's a fun and useful addition to your cadre of pool equipment/toys.
