Not qualitative grinding of internal parts.
Additional efforts are required to refine the product.
Poor quality control of the product.
Hence the not high cost of the product.
Easy to maintain and clean.
Recommended for entry level.

This is my first gravity feed airbrush. So far I've only bought Paasche airbrushes. Aesthetically I think its great. Functionally it works best for detailing. The small cup size is good and easy to see over. I have found that the cap and tip have to be really tight way more than my siphon airbrush to prevent it from bubbling up. I feel that the thread won't hold up for long if it has to be tightened that much.

The picture shows both types of air caps for the .66mm needle, the standard and the fan cap. The fan cap is NOT included.

Also, the cup is, well, tiny! Makes it difficult to mix paint in it. Paasche could have decided on a cup that is a little larger and it still would have been a great change over the other gravity Talons.

Will Paasche ever make hardened steel needles a standard for their brushes? Their needles bend if you breathe on them wrong! After five of their airbrushes, I'm close to giving up on Paasche and trying out Iwata.

So, tiny cup and soft needles leave me disappointed in the Raptor.

Update: After spending a few lengthy, hassle-free sessions with the brush I have to say that I like it a lot. I've learned to straighten the .25mm needle on the fly with my finger nails. The small cup is manageable and is easy to flush out, so changing colors many times in a session without taking the brush apart is possible. The brush is intended for smaller loads of paint, for detail work. It takes a bit of getting use to using only a half dozen drops of a couple of colors, rather than the large amount of paint you use in the other TGs.

This little Paasche puts a smile on my face!

The Raptor is basically the same airbrush as the Paasche Talon albeit with a smaller gravity cup. The smaller cup is better suited for fine detail work as it is less likely to block the view of the artist. However, the Raptor is one of the few smaller cup brushes that include a lid. This is extremely handy for the klutz prone painters like myself. The handling takes some getting use to as one has to pull the trigger back further than most brushes to start the paint flow. However, I'm beginning to like it as it makes the brush less likely to dump and run too much paint prematurely. The Raptor is compatible with the smaller .2 needle/nozzle combo of the Paasche Vision line which is also a Talon spinoff. I wish that Paasche included the smaller nozzle in the Raptor as it is intended to be a high detail brush. Hopefully the new nozzle will be able to achieve fine lines that can challenge the Iwata Microns......my 2 cents.

I have been airbrushing about 30 years. I buy a new one about every three years. Always Paasche VL. I bought this one for smaller work. I'm having a little problem getting used to it, because I have to pull the button way back before any fluid comes out. I put it up for now. Went back to using my VL. Maybe I will play with it some to see if it needs some adjustment. Don't have time to experiment right now.
