These have a really interesting texture to the ball that is easy for your fingers to grip with one hand and the foamy interior makes them soft for throwing. However, they seem like they would hold water, and definitely seem like they will degrade quickly if left outdoors, so I would certainly recommend them for indoor use only.My kids have a bunch of huge foam blocks that they used to create games, and these roughly 8 inch balls are great for throwing into homemade basketball hoops and such. My kids play with them a lot and really enjoy them. These do indeed glow-in-the-dark really well, and it's fun if you put your hand over of and then put the flashlight over it so that you have an interesting reveal when you take the flashlight away that you have made a shadow shape with your hand.
