Ribbon tweeters... the laws of physics limit how fast a given mass can accelerate, and lightweight ultra-thin aluminum has very low inertia. This means that your cymbals will tingle with clarity and no lisp whatsoever. Airiness is an apropos descriptor.Acoustically, they favor quality over quantity -- if you want volume -- loud, brashy clashes for heavy metal, get a horn tweeter; they excel at that. For delicate highs in jazz and Latin music, and acoustic guitar solos, these will bring a new sense of presence to your sound system. These particular ribbons are of the traditional type, made with a strip of aluminum between two very powerful magnets and internally decoupled by an internal transformer -- a direct current would blow the delicate ribbon like a low-current fuse in very short order.Ribbons have their limitations of course: a narrower projection field compared to a traditional cone tweeter. However, within that projection the length is quite good, projecting delicate treble clearly over a 30' room.Am very much looking forward to pairing these with a couple of Wharfedale Diamond 225s, which feature lower sensitivity, 8-ohm impedence (currently running cheap 4-ohm speakers) and a dome tweeter which would server as a decent midrange driver with the Aperion Aluminum Ribbon Super Tweeters set to 10-12k to take the high end. I'm sure these would pair quite well with more expensive and exotic equipment.

I like them. They provide that airy, open clarity that so many speakers lack. Tried them with Polk ES60 ($1k per pair) and what a difference how many details of a song / movie we miss out on - my gosh! For reference they made the Polk ES60 towers sound more like my Martin Logan 60XT towers albeit for the price of purchasing another set of MLs (if you include the $1k for ES60s) but if you already have towers that have decent lower/mid, then this could be an option - significant improvement to the neglected upper frequencies! The fit/finish is also ML black piano gloss, perfect.

I am using them with Paradigm speaker and a INTEGRA receiver. Huge improvement. I have a very low wattage tube amplifier I want to use just on these tweeters. It is from China and it sounds great. I did not try them on your teweaters yet until you say I can . russcapaldogmail. Com

So have versus grand towers which are phenomenal speakers. I just really wanted to see the hype behind these. Can you tell a difference yes is it worth the money that's on you. It opens up the high end and ads airiness to the towers. For music it's great movies not so much. Takes time to get them integrated the correct way as well. Only had for few months still playing with crossovers to pair perfectly for my ears.
