I have 4 of these and they work great if properly installed. Cattle cannot jimmy them open and there is a lock if the gate needs to be secured.

These are good, heavy duty gate latches. I decided to try online since my local farm supply stores don't carry much of use to me. These were a great price and the seller got them to me very quick too. Nothing bad to say about this purchase!

The instructions provided to install this latch on a gate were very clear. Clearance between the end of the gate and the supporting surface for the latch required that I adjust the gate hinge supports by screwing them in two more turns each. Latch works perfectly. I also applied a general purpose grease to the sliding surfaces of the latch and the round pin that engages the latch so that the gate would close with minimal friction. That made the gate closing action very smooth. The design of the latch is such that even our smart Houdini paint gelding can't open the latch to let himself out as he has done with sliding bolt latches.

Prior to discovering these latches, most of my gates were secured with that chain thing they come with. Sure, the chain works, but it does not support the gate and takes two hands to open and close which is a big problem from horseback or even carrying a feed bucket. And then I discovered these latched!! I ordered one to try it out. And I have since replaced all the latches on my farm with either these or the one way latches. They are very easy to install, very high quality and work great!! I can open the gate quickly with one hand and just push it shut and it latches on it's own. And while the gate is shut, it's fully supported which will prevent sagging. What a wonderful invention.

This has to be one of the best buys I bought for the paddock area for my horses. I can open and close the door on either side and it's durable and sturdy even against horses pushing on the gate.

These are the best gate latches. They stay tight shut. They are easy to open both ways. They are durable and also help keep the gate from wobbling around. We have put them on all our new gates and replaced all our old gates with these latches. We have 15 gates in our pastures.
