Our furnace had been repaired earlier, and we had also had a new water heater installed. Afterward, we kept smelling gas; nothing major, but we kept smelling gas. Since two companies had worked on our units we had to play the game of figuring out which one was more responsible than the other for getting us back in shape. The water-heater people came out, found a leak and fixed it. But we'd still smell gas near the furnace. We called to explain and they'd imply we didn't know what we were talking about. Were we crazy and oversensitive? So we bought one of these units. The instrument immediately found a leak in the furnace control unit (which had just been replaced). We again called the company that did that repair but they refused to come out to check for leaks until we could get the gas company to state that yes, it was leaking. I told them I had my own detector and it had indicated a leak. They came out, but the professional-level detector they brought was dead and wouldn't hold a charge. I handed them this one. It found the leak again and they were able to fix it. Unlike the company that couldn't get it together, this tool is awesome and highly-recommended.

Very sensitive. Good instructions. Nice to have the bottle of sample gas to test.

Bought it and then returned it for a different instrument. This one only makes noise when it finds a leak. I prefer one the type that clicks constantly and then faster when a leak is found, so that you know it is doing something...

Solid product with a great case, and detects combustible gas well. Cannot go wrong with this instrument.
